Serial Number L14737
This 1963 Fender Stratocaster has the typical features associated with that year. These include: a maple neck with a separate rosewood fingerboard, clay dot inlays, and a small headstock with the original “spaghetti” Fender logo. The three pickups and controls are attached to a greenish celluloid pickguard.
We received this guitar already stripped of it's original sunburst finish, and noticed the body was made of an African limba wood known as Korina (used on '50s Gibson Flying Vs and Explorers). Fender had used this wood experimentally on a few Strats around 1963. Dave decided to spray the body in a tinted natural lacquer that resembled the finish used on old Vs and Explorers.
