From Gibson:

"The Gibson Custom 1964 SG™ Standard Reissue, VOS, Antique Natural, is part of Gibson Custom’s Limited Edition Collection, which was inspired by years of Made to Measure orders and the ingenuity and creativity of the luthiers at Gibson Custom. It brings together one of the most beloved SG model years with a bold twist. While the classic ’64 SG Standard is known for its unmistakable silhouette and singing sustain, this Limited Edition version reimagines the original blueprint with a striking tonewood departure: a solid Korina body and Korina neck. The result is an SG with a distinct voice, unmistakable resonance, and Custom Shop character, crafted by the artisans in Nashville, Tennessee.

Korina has long been treasured for its lively midrange, harmonic sparkle, and exceptional clarity, offering a tonal personality that stands apart from the traditional mahogany SG. Paired with the model’s iconic body contours, deep bevels, and balanced ergonomics, the instrument feels familiar and immediately responsive, with a crisp attack and a blooming sustain that rewards expressive playing. The VOS nitrocellulose lacquer finish in Antique Natural highlights Korina’s expressive grain while delivering the gently aged patina that has become a hallmark of Gibson Custom’s VOS approach.

The Authentic 1964 neck profile provides a comfortable, period-correct shape, carved from matching Korina to enhance resonance along the entire 24.75 inch scale length. The rosewood fretboard features single ply binding and aged cellulose trapezoid inlays, while reissue medium jumbo frets offer smooth playability. A long neck tenon securely anchors the neck for improved stability and excellent sustain.

A matched pair of Custombucker Alnico 3 pickups provides classic Gibson humbucker™ tone. These humbucking pickups deliver warmth, clarity, and exceptional note definition, with the dynamic sensitivity that has made Custombuckers a favorite among players seeking authentic vintage character. The traditional control layout features two volume knobs, two tone knobs, and a three-way toggle switch, ensuring intuitive control over a wide range of tones, from glassy cleans to rich, expressive overdrive.

Period-correct hardware completes the instrument, including an ABR 1 Tune O Matic™ bridge, nickel pickup covers, black plastics, Kluson® Deluxe tuners, and the distinctive Maestro™ Vibrola™ tailpiece. Each detail contributes to the unmistakable look and feel of a mid 60s SG, honoring the past while embracing a refreshed tonal identity driven by its unique Korina construction.

The 1964 SG Standard Reissue, VOS, Antique Natural, is a limited-run creation that blends heritage, craftsmanship, and rare-wood brilliance, making it an SG unlike any other. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and is packed in a Lifton™ reissue hardshell case."

Testimonials

We had a GREAT experience. Raina helped us and we were there buying a guitar for my daughter. We didn't know anything and she was mindful of budget, never made us feel stupid and explained everything clearly. I would happily refer friends.

I took a student of mine to get his first guitar...a PRS SE Custom 24. We drove 3 hours to the guitar mecca of Wisconsin. Big shout out to Brett, Jordan, Christian, Brandon and Dave. I also took my student to see the collection upstairs and Dave was kind enough to answer some trivia questions concerning the PRS collection. Great experience, worth the travel. Thanks and Rawk on!
